Saturday dawned over-cast and gloomy, but as soon as the Pilots and Cadets from St. Paul Composite Squadron took off, they cleared the clouds from the skies. There were nine O-Flights taken, with two Cadets taking their first flights. We met at St. Croix Field in Lake Elmo where Lts. Jorvig and Nelson rotated pre-flights and flights all day. Thanks to the Pilots for taking the time to plan and coordinate O-Flight day. They spent time with each Cadet in pre-flight briefs and Syllabus reviews, then debriefing after each flight, as well as many countless hours of preparation. We also want to thank the St. Croix Squadron for the use of their airplane. And, finally thanks to the parents that traveled to get the Cadets to the airport at their appointed time. They arrived prepared and ready to fly. Powered flights and Glider flights are just one of the many special benefits Civil Air Patrol offers Cadets. I hope Cadets will take advantage of the many special opportunities CAP offers. O-Flights are especially important because it's convenient, in that it happens at the Squadron level, we have Pilots willing to take Cadets up, and we have access to airplanes. O-Flights also supports our Aerospace Mission and compliment the Aerospace Moduels each Cadet must pass through to gain rank. We are pleased and fortunate that our Pilots give so much of their time, and are committed to help encourage young people to become interested and involved in aviation. Many thanks, it was a great day. Amy Pahr, 1Lt, CAP |
